You can choose to fly into the following airports, ranked from best to worst options. Driving time to the lodge is also listed. Any option besides Durango - you will have to rent a car or coordinate with someone else for a ride.
Durango - 1 hr 45 min ⭐
Montrose - 2 hrs
Grand Junction - 3 hrs
Gunnison - 3 hrs
Eagle - 4.5 hrs
Denver - 7.5 hrs
We will make sure there are enough cars rented to fit everyone to cart around for the Ouray day or other sightseeing & travels but will not arrange transport to/ from airports. If you want total freedom, rent your own car.
You must rent a moderate or high clearance vehicle, like an SUV to drive on the unpaved lodge driveway. We also recommend AWD/4WD as most of the roads in the area and to all trailheads are rough forest roads.
In order to drive, you MUST be comfortable with narrow, winding mountain roads with no guardrail and a sheer cliff on one side. The Million Dollar Highway is the most dangerous road in Colorado, named after the price some say it'd take them to willingly drive it. DO NOT DRIVE THIS AT NIGHT!

There are a few shuttle/ bus options. Again, you would arrive in Silverton from where we would shuttle you to Eureka. We would also help coordinating anyone who chooses this option since some seem to be private shuttles only. This is a great option if you plan on taking the train one way, since the train has limited departure times
In addition to the train, they offer a bus service in conjunction with the train ride. Unclear if luggage is allowed or if you even can book the bus 2 ways.
Private shuttles
Up to 4 people: $252
Up to 7 people: $324
Up to 14 people: $402
The Durango - Silverton Narrow Gauge railroad is a great option for those flying into Durango. It departs Durango ~9am, and departs Silverton ~3pm, so you would have to get a hotel the night prior in Durango. Silverton is the closest town to Eureka and we can shuttle you from there.
Most likely, we will be coordinating everyone together that chooses the train option for a given leg. Note that checkout from the lodge is at 10am but train won't leave Silverton until late afternoon, so while the train is a great option for the Durango->Silverton journey, perhaps combining that with a shuttle or carpool is best for the Silverton->Durango journey.
In reviews, people recommend taking the steam engine instead of the diesel because the smell!
